Official: Kazakhstan to hold e-transformation without Russia’s Sber

NUR-SULTAN, Apr 15 (PRIME) -- Kazakhstan will digitalize its state agencies without the assistance of Russian bank Sberbank, Askar Zhambakin, Kazakh vice minister of digital development, innovations and aerospace industry, said at a news conference on Friday.

“At present, due to the geopolitical situation and revision of our possibilities, we have decided with the National Information Technologies to create a platform with our own forces, engaging Kazakh IT companies,” Zhambakin said.

“Technical and economic expertise is in progress, and a shift to the national platform will take about two to three years, and the first services of the new platform will be designed and implemented by the end of this year.”

Sberbank CEO German Gref and the-then Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin signed a memorandum of cooperation in September 2021 to fulfill digital transformation projects.
